My Co-Workers and I Switched.

For the new year, my co-workers and I decided to try and quit smoking traditional cigarettes. Now, some took it upon themselves to quit cold turkey but the rest aren’t that confident in their will power, me being one of them. The group of us that decided to find a smoking cessation tool to quit, first had to do some research. We looked at pills and patches but I came across electronic cigarettes. I thought that the individuals that used these were just partial to electronic cigarettes but as I continued to read more and more electronic cigarette reviews, I came to find that a lot of people were using them as a cessation tool. I took my research to the team and presented the new findings. We were all in agreement to try the electronic cigarette instead of pills or patches. Now, all we had to do was decide what brand to use.

To make it easier, we decided to choose V2 Cigs and Blu Cigs, based on all the positive reviews on each of these two brands. The people that chose the V2 Cigs bought the Couples Kit, so you pretty much get 2 starter kits at a great price and then split them up upon delivery. The people that chose Blu Cigs, ordered they’re starter kit (in either blue or white) and also created accounts and signed up for the Blu Cigs newsletter to gain points in their rewards program. We all agreed, that since we seem to be saving money already, after each month, we would put the extra money we saved together and all go out for a nice dinner to continue supporting one another and also to grow the bond among co-workers. Of course we had to develop a tracking system in case one person uses more than the next person. And if a co-worker doesn’t want to participate in the dinner or can’t make it, they don’t have to. We all agreed that there is no pressure because we needed to make this a positive experience.

Everyone seemed to be enjoying their electronic cigarette choice and seemed to be sticking to the switch. One thing we all noticed after the 2 week mark was that we didn’t stink! If you were a former smoker, you would understand. Your sense of smell comes back in full force and you can smell tobacco smoke on people’s clothing that continued smoking traditional cigarettes. Another positive was the ability to breath better and not feel so congested.

When we hit our first month (we’re currently mid-way through month 2) we planned a very nice dinner for our “team” and shared our concerns, struggles and set-backs. About 50% of us continued the use of electronic cigarettes with no use of traditional cigarettes to satisfy the craving. Roughly 25% have used traditional cigarettes mixed with their electronic cigarette and the last 25% have “cracked” and didn’t like the electronic cigarette and said it wasn’t the same but are still using Blu Cigs and V2 Cigs on occasion instead of traditional cigarettes but were over-ruled by their traditional cigarette brand.

For the 50%, we are still doing well half-way through the 2nd month. Of course, it’s difficult but it’s also better with support. And for the one’s using Blu Cigs that upgraded to the premium starter pack, the social application is awesome (vibrates and the logo on the front, lights up when a fellow Blu Cigs smoker is within 50ft)! I chose the V2 Cigs and enjoy them but I’m starting to like the Blu Cigs features a bit more so I may switch. Plus there are 2 new flavors and the Blu Cigs users in our group seem to be swapping different flavor to try.

All in all, electronic cigarettes are the new wave of smoking cessation and for just a healthier way to smoke. I think if we all wrote some reviews you would see that maybe out of 100%, 3-5% were not a fan. The rest use them in their own way. It’s still a great on-going experiment!
